Job Title: System Administrator

Job Summary

Candidate will be required to have SECRET clearance.

System Administrator will develop policies and standards related to the use of computing resources, overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple systems, operating environments, and related software; Schedule, plan, and oversee system upgrades; Develop functional requirements through interaction with end-users and coordinate with development teams on systematic enhancements or changes; Configure operating systems (Unix, Linux, Windows) and associated supporting software and utilities to optimize systems performance and systems services; Perform an analysis of the benefits and risks of implementing hardware and software updates prior to implementing changes; Validate and implement critical system patches; Administer, manage and optimize system data and databases; Coordinate with vendor OEM personnel as necessary to administer systems; Maintain classified and unclassified data storage systems; Provide user support for all computer systems; Maintain utilization, availability and performance data, and operation and maintenance logs; Perform root causes analysis when directed by the Government or when data indicates a trend requiring further analysis.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience: 

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics or relevant area of study and 8 -12 years related experience; or Masters with 6 - 10 years related experience.
  • Must possess an active DOD Secret Level security clearance for consideration
  • DOD 8570 certification required, i.e. Security+ and OS certification such as Linux+, Red Hat, etc.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of HPC systems, scalable, parallel architectures, Unix workstation and server implementations, and computer graphics hardware and software.
  • Knowledge and ability to develop systems software and scripts using conventional high level languages (C, C++), shell scripts, and web-based tools.
  • Ability to develop policies related to HPC systems. 
  • Ability to understand and capture computer system design, implementation, and operations requirements through interaction with users and development teams. 
  • Ability to manage user requirements, prioritize and develop project plans, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and communicate with and understand the requirements of scientists and engineers in the deployment of HPC solutions. 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Tomcat, Apache, JBOSS, Coldfusion, Redmine, and GitLab applications that support DoD priorities.
  • Ability to support programming staff within the development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of Puppet configuration management and Nagios
  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere ESXi and vCenter
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP Stack and IP subnetting
  • Certification required RedHat, and Security+ or equivalent
  • Security implementations using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos
  • Ability to understand application scaling issues related to problem resolution, algorithm choice.
  • Ability to manage the following Storage Architectures (including Bandwidth and Performance): SAN, SAS, FC, SATA
  • Ability to manage development of appropriate application benchmarks, analyze results and determine optimal configurations for processor type/speed, size of memory/cache, and memory interconnect fabric for customer problem domains.
  • Ability to lead contract SA team members and give the guidance on solving technical issues/problems.
